BARANGAY VISITATION IN MAUBAN

A monthly priority project called "Barangay Visitation" was resumed in January 20, 2011 by Hon. Mayor Dingdong
Llamas in five barangays of Mauban. He firmly believes in the saying that "a healthy municipality is a
progressive community". His desire to reach out the people and be able to deliver basic health needs from
medical, dental, optical to providing them with seeds to start gardening coupled with some compost materials.
This years' barangay visitation was made more exciting because Mayor Llamas added some other services and
goods to share with the people such as free x-rays, free eye glasses, free hair-cut, distribution of seedlings
to protect the environment and giving out of groceries for selected families. The first group of barangay's
who benefited from this program were Barangays Lucutan,Macasin, Baao, Sto Angel and San Isidro. More than 700
constiuents were delighted to have their needs delivered to them, not to mention that most of them got a free
hair-cut as well. At noontime, everybody was served with packed lunch.

This program were made possible through partnerships of Mayor Dingdong with Quezon Power (Phils) Ltd. Co. who
provided with manpower and medicines and with Hon. Governor David "Jay-Jay" Suarez who brought doctors, gave
free eyeglasses, x-rays and medicines and 500 bags of groceries.

All the department heads were present to answer all the inquiries of the people on all matters from child
birth to infrastructure concerns. The local government provided free assistance to birth registrations and
confered with the Barangay Officials on their barangay concerns and priority projects.

PROGRESS TOP THE HILL BESIDE THE OCEAN

Mauban is renowned for its rocky road condition for decades; it seemed to be an endless rocky road up and down
from the capital city of Quezon which is Lucena to the town of Mauban for 2 to 3 hours travel time. I grew up
with this kind of road condition and thinking of progress top the hill seems to be one of the greatest miracle
that could happen in town.

In 1994 Quezon Power Plant was built in one of the most remote areas in the municipality, it was top the hill
near the ocean, pacific side. From then on, improvement from rocky road to concrete road, increasing the taxes
of Mauban and therefore it paved way to many other opportunities that made Mauban from 3rd class municipality
jump off to 1st class municipality.

From top the hill, the bread and butter of the municipality which is a state of the art coal power plant was
built and started its operation in June 1998. From the time of construction until now Quezon Power Phils.never
failed to help the local government of Mauban, its people and the neighboring municipalities in their need for
education infrastructure, livelihood programs as well as caring for their health.

Quezon Power is one of the best partners of the LGU in implementing the Disaster Management Programs, Solid
Waste Management and other Environmental Programs, Free Medical and Dental missions, Feeding Program and
scholarship programs for OSY, indigent but deserving students and teachers not only of the municipality but
of the first district of Quezon.
