PUBLIC BATH Provenance Owner : Municipality of Mauban Year : 1725 Classification : Historical Site Description Physical : Original architecture- made of lime and shells Significance : Mauban is the only poblacion with known public bath
In 1725 the town’s public bath was built by Kap. Luis de la Cruz bringing the clear and fresh water of “Batis na Malinaw” to the location of the first people of Mauban. “Batis na Malinaw” is 200 meters away from the Public Bath. Passing thru some renovations after many years, its structure is still in tack thou the original source of water was already cut off and the water being used is from an installed deep well pump.
History speaks of the importance of the public bath to the people of Mauban. It is one of the important structures built in 17th century that still exists today. Unknown to many, it speaks of who we are, our good traits and creativity. In the province of Quezon, our municipality is the only municipality that has a public bath in 1725.
